The cumin is a small
annual plant with slender branched stems.
The leaves are long and narrow. These Leaves
are much smaller. The plant produces small
white or rose coloured flowers. These flowers
produce aromatic seeds. Which are yellowish
Brown in colour and about 5mm to 6mm long.
The seeds are lightly roasted to develop
the aroma of cumin.
Cumin seed is the second most popular spice
used in cooking Worldwide. Oriental culinary
art is incomplete without cumin seeds. It
is slightly bitter, pungent, nutty, and
hot. Cumin is one of the main ingredients
in curry powders and Seasoning. Cumin is
extensively used for flavoring curries,
soups, savages, bread and cakes.
Cumin seed used as carminative, antispasmodic,
and stomachic. It is stimulant used in dyspepsia,
swelling, uterus problems and is germicidal
insecticide. It is also helpful to eliminates
mouth disorders, in the treatments of Indigestion
& Stomach Ailments, Diarrhoea, common
cold, chronic fever, Piles and Insomnia.
